There are other things you can do in Nigeria this summer. They include the following:
BADAGRY FESTIVAL IN LAGOS STATE
The motive behind this festival
is to celebrate the eras of slave trade in Badagry .It tends to reconnect the indigenes to their roots and to recognize the significance of the place during the
slavery period. This festival is usually held on the 3rd week
of August annually. Its agendas include ,The Oba Akran Football
Competition, Arts and Crafts Competition, Masquerade Carnival, Nature and Water
sports and many more. The International Day for the Remembrance of Slave Trade and Its
Abolition is also celebrated during this festival. The 2015 Badagry Festival is
slated to hold from the 16th to 30th of August 2015.
Tourists can visit the ancient monuments in Badagry during this time too.

This festival is also called the Iri ji or Iwa ji.This festival serves like a vote of thanks to God for a successful farming season and the beginning of a new farming season since yams are the first crops to be harvested and one of the staple foods in Igboland.
During this festivals activities like Age grade dances, biggest yam contest, masquerade parades take place. The oldest man in the land eats first and then gives to the indigenes. In the olden days, it was believed that anyone who eats new yam before it was officially eaten will die.......Superstitious beliefs shaaaa.
